The Travel Apps You Should be Using

It’s 2018 if you’re not using apps to make your travels easier then you’re doing something wrong. Today, finding cheap plane tickets, last minute hotel rooms, and tours is a breeze thanks to all the different apps out there. Below, you’ll find a few of the apps we use, love, and trust to make our lives on the road run smoothly.

Flights: Hopper, Jet Radar, Sky Scanner

Tracking your flights has never been easier. Everyone knows the tricks: buy tickets six weeks out, purchase on Tuesdays, and of course never buy last minute. But with these Apps, the work is done for you. Simply enter your desired destination and travel dates into the app and it will show you current prices, along with predictions of future prices. You can track flights easily and get notified when prices drop within your preferred spending range. All three apps work similarly, so it comes down to user preference.

Lodging: Air BnB, Hotels Tonight, Hostel World

When it comes to finding accommodation at a great price, these apps have you covered. If you’re traveling to a destination that you truly want to immerse yourself in, use Airbnb. There is no better way to live like a local, than trading the stuffy boring hotel room for a local home or apartment. Chances are, your host will be a great local guide and you’ll have the trip of a lifetime.

Hotels Tonight, on the other hand, is perfect for business travelers or those who love a quick last-minute weekend away. Hotels Tonight compiles the absolute best possible rates from hotels. Hotels tonight only allows you to book a week in advance at most because it aggregates prices of last-minute unfilled rooms. The more you use the app, the more perks you can unlock. Hotels Tonight is great for finding luxury hotel rooms at budget prices.

Hostel World is the perfect tool for young travelers or solo travelers. Browse tens of thousands of hostels and chic boutique hotels all over the world. While this app is not geared towards luxury travel, you’ll be surprised by how nice a private room at a state-of-the-art hostel or boutique hotel can be.

Transportation:Railway, Local transportation guides

If you’re traveling through Europe by train, avoid confusion by using the Railway EU app. The Railway app has every major train and bus schedule listed. Simply plug in where you want to go, and it will provide you with the various routes, train stations, and bus stops required to get where you’re going.

Navigating public transportations systems can be quite the hassle, especially if you don’t speak the language. Thankfully, there are plenty of apps out there to help! When you arrive in a new city, say Paris for example, simply download the metro app so that you have access to public transportation maps and schedules!

Now get out and explore!
